It’s been an unusual start to the year, with a busy news cycle regarding global markets and interest rates. While there’s uncertainty in the short term, our focus continues to be on consistency and supporting our clients over the long term.

This year is a special one for W&D Finance as we mark 60 years in business. You’ll notice our anniversary logo in this edition of the newsletter, and we look forward to recognising the milestone in a few ways throughout the year.

As we head into the Easter long weekend, I’d like to wish everyone a safe and relaxing break. Our office will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, reopening Tuesday, April 7th.

Latest interest rate decision

In March, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) increased the cash rate by 0.25 percentage points to 4.10 per cent. In its announcement, the RBA noted that inflation remains above target and that economic activity and labour market conditions have been stronger than expected.

The RBA also indicated that while rising fuel prices add to inflation risks, the decision was primarily driven by domestic economic pressures. Future decisions will depend on incoming data and evolving economic conditions. As always, interest rate movements are influenced by a range of factors, including inflation, employment and broader economic trends.

44th Gold Nugget

W&D Finance is proud to support this year’s 44th Gold Nugget, which delivered a full day of great competition in perfect conditions. 16 teams took to the Victoria Bowling Club greens, with the winners not decided until late in the afternoon after a closely contested finals roll-off.

Congratulations to the winning team of Jay Burt, Connor O’Halloran, Micah Oswin and Marc Oswin, and to all players who took part. It was a fantastic day and a great example of the strong community spirit across our region.

Mounties grand final success

It was a big 2025/26 season for Mt Clear Cricket Club, with three grades reaching the grand final. Each final was played over two days on 21 and 22 March. The men’s First XI finished runners-up after a strong campaign, while both the Second and Third XIs secured premiership wins — a fantastic result for the club 🏆.

W&D Finance is proud to support the Mounties and congratulate all men's, women's, and junior players, coaches and volunteers. It is a terrific achievement and a great reflection of the depth across the club.

W&D Finance is pleased to support the Adroit Charity Golf Day, held on Friday 27 March at Ballarat Golf Club. The event raised funds for two important projects supporting families across the Grampians — a new transport cot for newborns and an outreach vehicle for the Grampians Early Parenting Centre.

Some might say it was a typical Ballarat day, cold and windy, and the conditions certainly put our golfers to the test. But despite this it was a great day, with local businesses coming together to raise vital funds for Grampians Health. Support from the Ballarat Health Services Foundation meant every dollar raised was matched, doubling the impact of the day.
