As we wrap up the 2024-25 financial year, I’d like to thank you for your continued trust in W&D Finance.

We’ve seen steady growth across our investment and lending portfolios over the course of the year. We are particularly encouraged by the continued interest in our fixed term investment options which have remained strong.

We’re also pleased to announce our expansion into the Western Districts of Victoria, welcoming Hugh Macdonald to the team. Hugh combines a strong understanding of the Hamilton, Warrnambool and Port Fairy region with decades of experience in the finance industry. He’ll be working directly with clients across the area, providing lending and investment solutions backed by local knowledge.

Interest rates in 2025

The Reserve Bank (RBA) has cut interest rates twice this year in response to signs of slower economic growth and easing inflation. These decisions reflect growing confidence that inflationary pressures are easing and that previous monetary tightening is having the intended effect.

While the reductions have been modest, they signal a shift toward a more stable policy environment after several years of volatility. In its latest Monetary Policy Decision, the RBA noted, “Setting aside overseas developments, private domestic demand appears to have been recovering, real household incomes have picked up and there has been an easing in some measures of financial stress.” While international developments are expected to weigh on the economy, the RBA states that it is well placed to respond decisively and it will be attentive to the data and the evolving assessment of risks.

Looking ahead, we believe the RBA is likely to remain cautious and will keep an eye on wage growth, global economic trends and household spending. For investors, now may be an opportune moment to review portfolios and consider options.
