W&D Finance has welcomed a new face to the boardroom, Steve Coltman - though in a past life, you might have found him carving down black diamond runs in Fernie, Canada, rather than reviewing financial forecasts. Before stepping into leadership roles across some of regional Victoria’s most respected organisations, our newest board member was, quite literally, navigating life at a different kind of peak. These days, Steve’s focus is firmly on elevating regional business. With decades of experience and director roles at Mitre 10 Australia, WF Coltman Pty Ltd, Sovereign Hill Museum, Ballarat Clarendon College, and most recently Adroit Insurance & Risk, he brings a wealth of experience - and a deep understanding of the people, priorities and potential that shape our region. So, why W&D Finance? For Steve, it came down to a solid reputation, deep community roots and an exciting opportunity for growth. With a vision to increase funds under management and attract a broader investor base across regional Victoria, he’s here to help shape W&D into the go-to name for investment and lending outside the usual suspects in the finance world. As traditional lenders become increasingly risk-averse, he sees W&D Finance stepping up to fill the gap - empowering local businesses to grow, and in turn, building stronger, more resilient regional communities. With each lending opportunity assessed on individual merits, W&D Finance brings a considered community-focused approach to financing. It’s a mission that blends purpose with potential, and he’s keen to roll up his sleeves and get stuck in.
